Rapid Responder Training - Sunnyvale

Join Sunnyvale Community Services, PACT: People Acting in Community Together, and the Rapid Response Network of Santa Clara County to learn how you can become a rapid responder to protect our community! The Rapid Response Network aims to expand the community's capacity to monitor and document ICE operations if Immigration Cus- toms Enforcement (ICE) comes to your work, home or a family member is detained.

We need your help to engage and train many more community volunteers across Santa Clara County! Please invite others to attend to help us build the Rapid Response Network. We need more volunteers in Sunnyvale! Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

The Rapid Response Network in Santa Clara County is a community defense project that protects immigrant families from deportation and to provide them with accompaniment support.

During this training you will learn:

  • How the Rapid Response Network functions

  • How to do legal observation during ICE operations

Accompaniment Team Workshop

Learn about forming and leading an Accompaniment Team to support and partner with immigrant individuals/families, including:

1) Personal support / pastoral care;

2) Practical and financial support;

3) Accompaniment to ICE meetings and court hearings so that no one stands alone; and/or

4) Help them tell their stories publicly for deportation defense and building our movement to stop mass deportation

This support is needed for individuals/families living in their own homes, staying in sanctuary/refuge congregations, and in ICE detention.

The Rapid Response Network in Santa Clara County, along with impacted families, immigration lawyers, religious leaders and other allies, will gather on Thursday, December 20th at 12 pm to denounce ICE’s latest tactics aimed at denying immigrants their right to due process and call for the closure of the Morgan Hill office.  The group will conduct a delegation to deliver a cease and desist letter to the Morgan Hill office.

Đức Nguyễn, a longtime San Jose resident, family man, and community advocate, is at risk for deportation. ICE recently requested an unexpected interview with Đức at the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) offices in San Jose this coming Tuesday, December 4th. In the past, ICE’s unexpected requests is an indicator of their plan to detain and deport at the moment of arrival.
