The County of Santa Clara Office of Immigrant Relations will hold a press conference followed by a candlelit vigil regarding the federal administration’s efforts to detain and deport Vietnam War refugee-immigrants.
The County of Santa Clara has the second largest population of Vietnamese outside of Vietnam. The County of Santa Clara recognizes that the federal administration’s effort to deport Vietnam War refugee-immigrants will separate families and hurt communities. The County welcomes all immigrants and will continue to monitor reports of the administration’s move to renegotiate the 2008 Repatriation Agreement (MOU). Several representatives from various organizations that provide deportation relief efforts will share the podium with community leaders who are directly affected by the federal administration’s deportation efforts.
