Education
We believe that all young people should have access to quality education regardless of the neighborhoods where they live and their families' ethnic and socioeconomic background.
The dream of graduating from college is out of reach for thousands of children in low-income communities. Through PACT, hundreds of parents and other community members are working together and with educators and public officials to create a community-wide college-bound culture in East San Jose.

PACT is working to ensure that all children and youth have access to excellent public schools that prepare them for success in college and life, by:
- Creating excellent new schools - charter schools and small autonomous district schools
- Improving and expanding alternative education programs
- Initiating new school district policies and practices to close the achievement gap and reduce dropout rates
- Engaging public officials in providing resources and leadership to support education reform which is needed for the safety, well-being and success of our community and economy
PACT’s work is a model for how parents can drive an effort to create new, first-class schools for all children.
“We won’t stop organizing and holding the school board accountable until all our children have a real chance of going to college. They deserve nothing less!”
-Aleida Nunez, PACT volunteer leader in creating a new policy in Alum Rock to create new, small public schools.
